--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SECTION 1: FUNCTIONAL ARCHITECTURE & CIRCUIT ROLE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Internal Functional Blocks:

   - High-Voltage DO-Charge Pump (Dual-Output Charge Pump): Features up to 90% power conversion efficiency. Unlike traditional boost converters that require a large external inductor, this architecture uses external flying capacitors to elevate internal supply rail PVDD up to 8.5V, minimizing PCB board space.

   - Smart K Audio Engine with TLTR-AGC (Triple-Level Triple-Rate AGC): Dynamically enhances low-frequency bass response, extends dynamic range, prevents audio clipping, and actively protects small micro-speaker voice coils from over-excursion and thermal burnout.

   - Dual-Mode Output Stage (2-in-1 Architecture): Supports both high-power hands-free loudspeaker mode (Class-D operation up to 3.5W) and low-noise handset earpiece receiver mode (Class-AB/D selectable with 11 µV ultra-low noise floor).

2. Power Rails & Operational Voltages:

   - VBAT / VDD Input Rail: 2.8V to 5.5V direct battery or system main power (VPH_PWR / VDD_MAIN).

   - PVDD Boost Rail: Internally boosted rail up to 8.5V generated by the charge pump across external flying capacitors (CFLYP / CFLYN) and filter caps.

   - I2C Control Interface: 1.8V logic-level serial communication (SDA, SCL) to configure internal registers including output voltage, gain levels, and AGC profiles.

   - Audio Output: Differential Bridge-Tied Load (BTL) lines (OUTP and OUTN) driving the speaker transducer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SECTION 2: BOARD-LEVEL FAULT SYMPTOMS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Complete Loss of Loudspeaker / Ringtone Sound:

   - Device functions normally, receives calls, but plays zero sound through the loudspeaker or speakerphone (earpiece or Bluetooth audio may still function).

   - Primary Causes: Internal power stage breakdown inside AW87359, broken flying capacitor on the charge pump circuit, or cracked solder pads under the FCQFN package.

2. Audio Distortion, Buzzing, or Scratching at High Volume:

   - Sound is audible at low volume but becomes heavily distorted, scratchy, or cuts out completely when volume is raised above 50%.

   - Primary Causes: Charge pump circuit failing to maintain the 8.5V PVDD rail under load, or a degraded external flying capacitor causing voltage sag.

3. Primary Power Rail Short / Phone Completely Dead:

   - Internal high-side power FET failure causing a dead short between the VBAT / VDD input and Ground.

   - Result: Motherboard main power rail (VPH_PWR) reads 0.000V to ground. DC power supply immediately triggers over-current protection (trips to max amps) before pressing the power button.

4. System Freezing or Bootlooping:

   - Phone gets stuck on the brand logo (Redmi/Vivo) or restarts continuously.

   - Primary Causes: Damaged 25W0 IC pulling down the shared 1.8V I2C bus (SDA or SCL) to ground, stalling the main processor during boot-up hardware peripheral checks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SECTION 3: STEP-BY-STEP MULTIMETER TESTING & DIAGNOSTICS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Cold Testing (Diode Mode Drop Readings in mV):

   - Multimeter Setup: Diode Mode. RED probe to PCB Ground shield, BLACK probe on test points around the 25W0 IC:

     * VBAT / VDD Input capacitor: ~350 mV to 450 mV (0.000V indicates primary power rail short).

     * PVDD Boost line (Output decoupling cap): ~450 mV to 560 mV.

     * OUTP and OUTN (Speaker output pads to FPC): ~450 mV to 600 mV (both readings must be balanced within ±10 mV of each other).

     * I2C Bus Lines (SCL and SDA): ~450 mV to 650 mV (must be matched closely; 0.000V indicates bus short).

     * CFLYP and CFLYN (Flying capacitor pads): ~450 mV to 600 mV.

2. Hot Testing (Live Voltage Measurements with DCPS / Battery Powered On):

   - Standby Mode:

     * Check VBAT input: Must read steady battery voltage (~3.8V - 4.2V).

     * Check I2C lines (SDA/SCL): Must read 1.8V DC pull-up voltage.

   - Active Playback Mode (Playing music or ringtone in Settings):

     * Check PVDD capacitor: Voltage should dynamically jump from battery level (~3.8V) up to 7.5V–8.5V DC.

     * Diagnostic Rule: If audio is playing through software but PVDD stays stuck at 3.8V, the charge pump inside the AW87359 is dead or the external flying capacitor is cracked/missing.

3. Short Isolation Technique:

   - If the main battery rail (VBAT/VPH_PWR) is shorted to Ground:

     * Coat the audio circuit area with rosin flux smoke or use a thermal imaging camera.

     * Connect DC power supply to the battery terminal at 3.7V / 2.0A current limit.

     * If the 25W0 IC melts the rosin immediately, desolder the IC and verify if the board short clears.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SECTION 4: SOLDERING, REBALLING & REWORK SPECIFICATIONS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Desoldering Parameters:

   - Hot Air Station: Quick 861DW, Atten ST-862D, or equivalent precision station.

   - Temperature: 330°C - 345°C.

   - Airflow: 35% - 45% (FCQFN-16 is a tiny 2.0x2.5mm package; maintain controlled airflow to avoid disturbing surrounding miniature 0201 passives).

   - Nozzle: 3.5mm to 4.5mm straight nozzle.

   - Procedure: Apply a drop of high-grade tacky rosin flux (Amtech NC-559-V2-TF). Heat evenly in circular motions for 15-18 seconds until the perimeter solder liquefies, then lift vertically with fine-tip curved tweezers.

2. PCB Pad Preparation & Cleaning:

   - Apply a small bead of leaded solder (Sn63/Pb37) to dilute factory lead-free solder on the 16 board pads.

   - Set soldering iron to 340°C using an ultra-fine knife (K-tip) or micro-bevel tip.

   - Use fine 0.8mm desoldering copper wick soaked in flux to gently sweep and level all pads completely flat.

   - Clean the area thoroughly with 99.9% pure Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and inspect under microscope for any lifted or bridged pads.

3. Reballing / Tinning Specifications:

   - Stencil: Dedicated Xiaomi/Vivo Audio IC stencil or 0.40mm/0.50mm pitch universal QFN-16 stencil (0.10mm thickness).

   - Solder Paste: Sn63/Pb37 (183°C melting point, Type 4 or Type 5 particle size).

   - Micro-Tinning Alternative: Since FCQFN uses bottom flat pads, an experienced technician can use a bevel iron tip with fresh leaded solder and flux to create micro-domes on all 16 pads without a stencil. Ensure domes are uniform in height to avoid tilt.

   - Reflow Heating (Stencil Method): Hot air at 260°C - 275°C with 20% airflow until uniform solder contacts form.

4. Alignment & Final Installation:

   - Apply an ultra-thin film of tacky flux on the prepared motherboard footprint.

   - Identify Pin 1 Orientation: Locate the laser-etched index dot on the corner of the AW87359 package (Pin 1) and align it with the Pin 1 corner marking on the PCB silkscreen.

   - Soldering Parameters: Hot air station at 325°C - 340°C, airflow at 35%.

   - Heat the IC evenly until it settles and self-centers via molten solder surface tension.

   - Perform an ultra-gentle micro-tap with tweezers to confirm solid solder joint formation across all 16 pads.

   - Allow the board to cool naturally for 3-5 minutes before testing audio playback.
